Department of Peace legislation sought

DAMARISCOTTA - Kristin Cameron of Nobleboro and Shelley Schweizer of Portland believe Americans are ready to change their outlook on peace and war.

The duo met at a national conference of members of The Peace Alliance in Washington, D.C. last week to kick off a new drive to establish a United States Department of Peace.

    Eagles pound Tigers

    ROCKLAND - Rockland (0-3) still searches for its first victory of the season, following Friday's 12-0 pounding by Lincoln Academy.

    The visiting Eagles of Newcastle showed no mercy on Rockland as they put relentless pressure on the Tigers' defense throughout the game.

    Finding Common Ground in Unity

    The Common Ground Country Fair will take place once again at the home of the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 23-25, in Unity.

    Each year, approximately 50,000 people take part in this unique event that celebrates rural and sustainable living in Maine. The fair is unique because there are no midway carnivals, fast food or games of chance. What it does offer is pure fun and entertainment in an educational context.
